Everyone
Sell fertilizer – everyone is
supposed to sell 8 bags or pay $56.
Now we have to buy a new light board. Everyone made that commitment.
Watch lines
Take casting call sign down after first mechanicals scene
Champagne bottle wrong period
Quiet backstage – NO CREW BACKSTAGE
Why was the director’s chair out during the entire play?
We need to see ELI put the ears on Bottom. THIS MUST BE MAGICAL. I want the drummer by Bottom & maybe a
light. WE HAVE TO SEE THIS.
Quit dropping character
Don’t forget that the swamp is gross and filled with tons of bugs and
mosquitos
Strange things that are scary – the lovers never showed a difference
except for stepping on the bug.
Freeze precisely
Freeze when Eli claps
Rework last scene.
Fat Tuesday – what do you want to eat for lunch. I’m asking the
office to play Cajun – 20’s music during each passing period – Alee – can you
do this?
Colin
Consonants at the beginning
To abjure forever – no pause
Growling at beginning of forest scene
Shoes
Do not laugh after this is thy negligence
Stay in character
Get in Pucks face when you say Lysander twice
Celebration at the end.
Kaytlyn
Take your glasses off when you get mad.
Sticks
Hannah was blocked by sticks
Hannah
Consonants talking about Lysander
Voice is too pitchy in swamp.
Carter
Consonants when he turns – ask Emma
When you say unfold – you are telling Helena it is a secret.
Eliana
Watch your hat casting a shadow
Lion scene – consonants
Dance coming in
Flowers in urns
Go back to the way you did the lion before. It was way too slow tonight. Think of being
a stupid Chihuahua
Fairies
Always react
Don’t be distracting in the background of any scene.
Drums
Were not consistent
Be careful not to be louder than actors.
Alee
Show starts with sound and ends with sound
Eli and fairies
Distracting when Colin and Alee first meet NO CARDS
Kate A
Hum louder and keep humming until there is dialogue.
Liked singing - louder
Mechanicals & fairies
Swamp scene – better. Move more downstage. Fairies be ever present but not distracting
reblock second scene
Look at Iowa’s mechanicals
People noises
Eli
Don’t be distracting with mechanicals at the beginning
Auditor means spectator
Sad – say the intent behind the word
Mad – say the intent behind the word.
When bottom is singing, can you dance behind him?
Clay and Breck
React to Hannah (drums were needed)
Clayton
DO NOT TAKE THE WIG OFF
Ramzi
Red material? Look at Iowa university’s Bottom. On all fours at one
point
Don’t look at eli when he trips you.
Breck
That hobgoblin – not who
Alee
More enthralled with bottom
Tre
Shake more than your head when the drum beats.
Act more manly when protecting Helena. Shoulders back head up
React when Eli touches you when you’re looking for Demetrius.
This adaptation of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream- The Crescent City has evolved for about a year. I started working on it last year, and the students bought in. They've given their input, and the result is something we are excited about.
